5 Deluxe Album Tracks That Deserved To Be On The Standard Album!

Written by Madison Murray. Published: May 11 2021

One of the happiest moments in fandom is when your favorite artist decides to release a deluxe edition of an album you love, letting you delve deeper into that world with new bonus tracks. But sometimes, it leaves you wondering why an artist didn’t add a stand-out deluxe song to the standard version of the album. Here are some bonus tracks we wish got more recognition!

1. Taylor Swift’s “New Romantics”

“New Romantics” is the fun, retro closer on the deluxe edition of Taylor Swift’s 2014 album 1989, named after the year she was born. It’s a celebration of being independent while still longing for some form of romance, making it the best way to end an album all about finding yourself after heartbreak.

2. Dua Lipa’s “We’re Good”

As one of the biggest stars in pop music today, Dua Lipa has seen unbelievable success with her most recent album, Future Nostalgia. She released a deluxe “Moonlight Edition” of the record in February, and the bouncy bonus track “We’re Good” seems poised to become the song of the Summer.

3. Machine Gun Kelly’s “can’t look back”

Worried that fans wouldn’t like the song, Machine Gun Kelly saved “can’t look back” for the “Sold Out” deluxe edition of his #1 album Tickets to My Downfall. It quickly became a fan-favorite track, blending trap beats with an ominous guitar riff and addressing self-doubt. We hope he makes more songs with this sound in the future!

4. Halsey’s “I’m Not Mad”

Halsey originally released the rhythmic “I’m Not Mad” on the Japanese version of her January 2020 album Manic, but after fans found it online and fell in love, she released it as part of a special deluxe edition in September. The track sees her saying goodbye to an ex as she goes back and forth between wishing them the best and hoping they’re haunted by the thought of her.

5. Lady Gaga’s “Love Me Right”

The futuristic finale to the Target edition of Chromatica sums up the insecurities and anxiety Lady Gaga hints at throughout the album. Thematically, it’s a great way to wrap up the heavier songs in a light-hearted way, asking if a loved one will support her in spite of everything she goes through.
