4 Classic Rom-Coms That Would Make Great TV Shows!

Do you ever feel like the endings to some of your rom-coms are just not enough? You want to keep seeing your favorite characters' lives after they get their happy endings... or not. And you want to keep exploring their world, their romantic journey, and everything about the rom-com that you love!

Imagine your favorite rom-com turning into a TV show that you can keep watching, one episode after the other, for seasons, instead of having to say your goodbyes at the end of an hour-and-a-half to two-hour-long feature.

Here are some of our rom-coms picks that we would love to see on TV!

1. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)

If Bridget kept writing in her diary for years, and I could keep watching her ridiculous and exciting life forever, that would be my dream come true. If you are familiar with the first book that was adapted into a movie, you probably know that the format of the entire book is Bridget’s day-to-day diary entries. Every chapter is funny, chaotic, sometimes romantic, and unexpected. The book could easily turn into a sitcom as Bridget has more than enough content to make up at least 3 seasons of entertainment. From her flirty moments with Daniel at the office to her awkward run-ins with Mark Darcy, and her more-than-once waxing fails at her apartment, Bridget Jones would be the ultimate sitcom main character.

2. 500 Days of Summer (2009)

Don’t we all want to know what happened to Tom after Summer? He is the biggest hopeless romantic, especially after the whole Summer thing. Is he going to find love? Is he going to make the same mistakes he did with Summer, like ignoring the signs of a bad relationship or blaming Summer for moving on? Is he going to meet someone else and have 500 days of New Mystery Woman? 500 Days of Summer is one of the best stories of its genre because of how realistically heartbreaking and bitter it is. I definitely want to see a romance TV show that keeps it real, whether we like the ending or not, just like 500 Days of Summer. Maybe each season can be 500 Days of ‘‘Someone New’’ until Tom finally gets it right!

3. The Holiday (2006)

The Holiday gave us love, vacation, a cozy cottage house in England, a fancy mansion in L.A., two incredible female leads (played by Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz), and the ultimate holiday fantasy: swapping homes with someone great and having the best Christmas ever. If I could watch hundreds of episodes of people swapping houses on Christmas, finding the love of their lives, or their passions along the way, that would be my new favorite holiday series!

4. Wild Child (2008)

If you ask me, Wild Child will always be one of Emma Roberts’s best works, so let’s bring back this masterpiece from our childhoods! The movie highlights the unforgettable journey of Poppy, from being a spoiled Malibu princess to suddenly becoming a full time student at an England boarding school, in a room with four other girls. The boarding school drama, the weekend shopping trips in rural England, breaking some strict school rules, Emma Roberts’s infamous ‘"perfect b*tch face", and so much more -- This iconic classic would be an immediate hit as a Netflix teen series, just saying...
