Zayn Malik scores first solo U.K. number one
Former One Direction star Zayn Malik has rocketed to the top of the U.K. singles chart with his debut solo release, Pillowtalk.
The singer, who quit the boyband last year (15), knocks Shawn Mendes' Stitches off the number one spot after racking up combined sales of 112,000.
Stitches slips to three, behind Jonas Blue's Fast Car collaboration
with Dakota3, while Rihanna's new track Work climbs from 13 to
four, and Justin Bieber rounds out the new top five with Love
Yourself.
Meanwhile, in the U.K. albums countdown, the late David Bowie
replaces himself at the top as his 2002 hits collection, Best of
Bowie, boots Blackstar from pole position, making him the first
artist to achieve the feat since Michael Jackson following his
death in 2009.
Blackstar, which was released two days before Bowie lost his battle
with cancer on 10 January (16), falls to two, with Sia having to
settle for third place with This Is Acting.
