Wu-Tang Clan fans launch campaign to buy collector's album

Wu-Tang Clan fans have launched a campaign to purchase the group's exclusive double-album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin and release the music for free.

In March (14), the members of the hip-hop collective announced they would only be releasing one copy of the album after it tours art exhibitions around the world in "a hand carved nickel-silver box", designed by British-Moroccan artist Yahya.

The band recently received a $5 million (GBP3.1 million) offer for the record, but fans are hoping to counter the bid, according to AllHipHop.com.

They have launched a campaign on Kickstarter.com to raise money to purchase the album and distribute the music for free.

A message on the crowdfunding website reads: "For all the fans who won't be able to pay $30 (GBP19) to $50 (GBP31) to listen to a double album in one sitting, let's raise enough money to buy this album and then turn around and give it away for free..."

The fundraiser runs until 9 June (14).
