Will.i.am launching online video platform

will.i.am has teamed up with bosses at digital media firm Maker Studios to launch an online video platform.

The original content will revolve around the Black Eyed Peas star's interests and passions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The platform will also offer users the opportunity to see behind-the-scenes videos and collaborations with other artists, which will stream on will.i.am's YouTube.com channel.

He says, "In an era of disruption that has democratised everything imaginable, there are areas that are exciting for creators and content makers including videos, music videos, documentaries, short films and long-form films. I love the idea of bringing order and being systematic and strategic on YouTube."

Maker Studios COO Courtney Holt, adds, "Will has some big, bold ideas, and we all got really excited about them."
