Vic Mensa 'accused of stealing from Barneys'
Vic Mensa has claimed police accused him of stealing from department store Barneys.
The rapper and his friends visited the high-end store in Los Angeles on Thursday (04Aug16), and spent more than $4,000 in the shopping spree.
However, Mensa alleged in a series of videos on Snapchat that his
group was stopped by police who accused them of stealing their new
purchases.
Editors at NME.com report Mensa filmed himself and the police
during the ensuing discussions in an effort to prove their
innocence.
"I go to Barneys and spend four racks (thousand dollars) and get
accused of stealing," he says in the first clip, which shows one of
the policemen who stopped Mensa and his friends.
"They talking about us stealing... they don't even know where we
stole... from, but they think we stole...
"The craziest thing about is that I bought some ill Saint Laurent
boots, some more (things) from Barneys, and we get all pulled out
the... car and get accused of stealing," he continued. "And on top
of that, they don't even know what they think we stole."
"You can't be a young black man out here doing anything legal,
positive, and you still get treated like a criminal," he
concluded.
The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to comment on the
report.
