Tom Hardy fronts new campaign targeting bad dog owners
Tom Hardy and Casey Affleck have teamed up to front a hard-hitting new Peta video targeting dog owners who chain their pets.
The actors have joined dog lovers Priyanka Chopra and Edie Falco in the short film, which features footage of sad, shivering, neglected animals left to battle the elements.
The voices of the stars can be heard encouraging owners to treat their dogs like family by never leaving them chained or tied up outside during the winter months.
The video begins with a shot of a chained dog sitting alone in the snow, while Hardy asks, "When you first got me, did you know that you were going to chain me up and leave me outside? Even in the cold and snow?"
And as another dog stands helpless in a puddle, Manchester by the Sea star Affleck adds, "Did you know that you would leave me to fend for myself, even when it was pouring down rain and I had no way of keeping dry?"
At the video's end, Hardy asks, "If you did, then why did you get me at all?"
The dogs featured in the video were filmed near the Sam Simon Center, PETA's headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia.
Every year, PETA officials receive thousands of complaints about people who leave their dogs outside in the cold.
