Teresa Palmer opens up about devastating break-up

Teresa Palmer was plunged into a downward spiral of despair after a bad break-up last year (12).

The Warm Bodies star has shared her crippling heartbreak with fans in a home video titled Overcoming Adversity, which was posted on her spirituality website YourZenLife.com.

She does not name the ex-boyfriend, but she is believed to be discussing her romance with actor Scott Speedman, who she split from in 2012.

Palmer explains, "Last year, I had a really difficult time. I had my heart broken last year, really terribly, I was very badly portrayed and it was humiliating and upsetting. At the same time that that happened, my mum had some health issues as well. I'd flown her out to Los Angeles to be with me while I was grieving the breakdown of this relationship and she really suffered from some health issues. It was one thing after the next.

"I remember being literally on the floor, bawling my eyes out, just suffering terribly and feeling alone and scared and unsure of the future. Just completely dark, a very low point. I realised that there was nothing I could do but find the strength within myself to pull me out of it."

Palmer credits yoga and meditation with helping her through the dark episode, and adds, "Every day I moved further and further away from the pain and I started to rely solely on myself for happiness and fulfilment. It taught me that I don't need to have this despair. As a result of my darkness, probably the worst time I've ever had in my life, I'm a much better person."

The 27 year old is now dating actor/director Mark Webber.
