Taylor Swift takes cancer survivor fan to ACM Awards
Taylor Swift invited a cancer survivor to the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on Sunday (07Apr13) after he was too sick to attend the event as her date last year (12).
The sister of Kevin McGuire reached out to the singer via Facebook.com back in February 2012 and asked her to go to prom with her brother, who was battling leukemia, but the superstar was busy on the night - so she offered to take him to the ACM Awards instead.
The teen was hospitalized with a fever just two days before the
2012 country prizegiving but Taylor Swift made good on her promise
this year (13) - and the event turned into a celebration of Kevin
McGuire's successful bone marrow transplant.
Kevin McGuire and his family traveled to Las Vegas over the weekend
(07Apr13) and met with Taylor Swift as she prepared to hit the red
carpet, and he later donned a suit and tie to accompany her to the
glitzy ceremony.
Kevin McGuire's sister Tori posted photos of her grinning brother
posing with the Love Story hitmaker along with the caption, "The
moment we have all been waiting for!"
She added, "It is great how this all worked out, it truly came full
circle; Kevin is fully healthy this year and will be able to enjoy
everything! Thank you for being a part of our journey!"
