Taylor Swift stage invader sent to mental health facility
The fan who ran onstage during a 2015 Taylor Swift concert has been ordered to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
Christian Ewing reportedly jumped a fence at the concert and invaded the stage at Petco Park in San Diego, California while Swift was in the middle of performing her 1989 World Tour show in August, 2015. He was tackled by security guards and hauled offstage but he allegedly became embroiled in a physical altercation with them and left one with injuries.
Ewing was arrested and later pleaded not guilty to two felony
charges of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury
and battery with serious injury, plus a misdemeanour count of
giving police the wrong name.
A judge has now ruled Ewing is incompetent to stand trial and
ordered to him to be admitted to Patton State Hospital, a mental
health facility in San Bernardino, California, until he is deemed
competent, which could total up to three years, according to
TMZ.com. The judge also ruled Ewing could be given medication
involuntarily if required.
Ewing will face the charges once he is deemed competent.
