Students create petition calling for Big Sean concert cancellation
Students at Princeton University have created a petition calling for Big Sean to be dropped from an upcoming concert due to his controversial song lyrics.
The Clique hitmaker was announced as headliner for the university's Spring Lawnparties concert in May (15), but two students are campaigning against the decision and have set up an online petition asking the school's student government to cancel his slot and book another singer.
They are taking issue with the hip-hop star's lyrics, and
campaigner Duncan Hosie tells the Daily Princetonian, "I started
researching Big Sean's language and I found language that was both
misogynistic and homophobic."
The petition has garnered more than 500 signatures from students,
but social committee President Simon Wu insists it is too late to
make changes to the bill, adding, "The contracts are signed and
it's unrealistic to stop this from happening."
