Snoop Dogg: 'Marijuana party didn't go up in smoke'
Snoop Dogg has laughed off reports suggesting police shut down a marijuana party he hosted last weekend (20Apr13).
The star, who now goes by the name Snoop Lion, organized the bash at a Hollywood mansion to mark 20 April, which has become known among weed smokers as the day to celebrate cannabis culture.
TMZ.com reported the Snoop Lion 420 Festival was shut down by
authorities due to noise complaints from neighbors, but in an
interview with New York radio show 92.3 Now, the Drop It Like It's
Hot hitmaker had a different story to tell.
He said, "The police tried to shut the party down. Then once I got
there we had a conversation with the police and they allowed the
party to continue, because it was a holiday. It was an
international holiday - 4/20.
"My partner pulled (the police chief) to the side. He was a great,
great chief and he was willing to understand. (I said), 'We just
trying to party, chief. We doing a million other things, we just
trying to smoke and have a good time'.
"We all had our (medical marijuana) license and everybody was legit
and the police went on their way. We had a great time. It continued
on until the break of dawn."
In the state of California it is currently legal for persons with
chronic illnesses to purchase marijuana with a prescription from a
doctor.
