Simon Cowell launches internship scheme

Simon Cowell is to help youngsters launch a career in the entertainment industry by offering placements at his company as part of a new internship scheme.

The music mogul is joining a program run by his business mogul friend Sir Philip Green, who has teamed with schools in London to provide internships across his fashion retail chains.

Cowell is to offer coveted placements at his entertainment company Syco, and he joined Green at Highgate School in north London on Wednesday (04Feb15) to launch the scheme.

He tells British newspaper the Ham & High, "This was a bit of a spur of the moment thing for me. I like doing these kind of things, and off the back of it, we'll take on pupils, some from this school and some from other schools."
