Sam Smith cancels performance due to illness
Sam Smith canceled a performance at a museum gala due to illness.
The Grammy-winning Brit was scheduled to sing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's (LACMA) Art + Film Gala on Saturday (07Nov15).
However, he pulled out of the event after being ordered by doctors
to go on vocal rest.
A representative for the museum, Miranda Carroll, told The
Hollywood Reporter, "Sam Smith has fallen ill and regretfully was
unable to perform tonight at the LACMA Art + Film Gala. He was
required to go on vocal rest."
Singer Joe Walsh stepped in at the last minute to replace Sam, and
he told the star-studded audience, "Well, here I am. I'm glad to be
here, I think. I'm just gonna play a couple songs, and we'll see
what happens."
Celebrities who were spotted at the event included LACMA co-chair
Leonardo DiCaprio, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto,
and Aaron and Sam Taylor Johnson.
It is not known when Sam is expected to recover. Last week
(beg02Nov15), he revealed he was suffering from a throat infection,
writing on Instagram.com, "Feeling very sorry for myself tonight.
Throat Glands are so f**king big. Feel like I have a tennis ball
down my throat."
