Pink: 'Motherhood has softened my perspective on life'
Parenthood has changed pop punk Pink for the better - she's no longer jaded about life.
The 36-year-old singer became a mom to daughter Willow four years ago, and she admits her child has helped soften her rough edges.
"I have lived a lot of life in a very short time, and you get
hardened a little bit," she told People magazine. "You get jaded,
you build up walls, and when you see this little kid, and you get
to watch them through infancy to toddler to little person, it’s
amazing.
“You see how you were. When you watch this bundle full of love and
light that’s untarnished and untainted by heartache and any of the
numerous things that change you, it’s very healing. It’s a
miracle."
The Trouble singer has previously opened up about being a troubled
child and experimenting with drugs at a young age, revealing music
saved her. She is now a UNICEF ambassador and working with the
charity organization is a tremendous joy for her - something she is
already sharing with daughter Willow.
“I want her to be a global citizen," Pink said. "She’s very aware
of the fact that not everybody has a bed to sleep in at night and
food on their table and coats on their back. It’s hard for her to
understand. I want her to be four, you know? I don’t want to give
her anxiety issues.
“We donate. When one new toy comes in, eight go out. And she loves
being in charge of that. She loves looking around and going, ‘OK,
I’m ready to give this one up, Mama'."
