Perrie Edwards 'just friends' with Dougie Poynter

Little Mix's Perrie Edwards has dismissed rumors of a romance with Dougie Poynter, insisting they’re just good friends.

The 22-year-old singer was reportedly spotted “looking cosy” with the McFly bassist and ex-boyfriend of Ellie Goulding, at the Glamour magazine Women of the Year awards in London on Tuesday night (07Jun16), sparking rumors she had found a new man following her split from Zayn Malik.

However, Perrie has denied they are anything more than friends at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone on Saturday (11Jun16).

"I think he's lovely. He's a good mate," she told reporters, adding they were "just friends".

Perrie had previously revealed her crush on the musician two years ago, when she said in an interview that she was “gutted” when Dougie began dating British singer Frankie Sandford, from girl group The Saturdays.

According to the report from the Glamour Awards, Perrie and Zayn were "pretty inseparable at the after show," a source told Mail Online. "He didn't leave her side towards the end of the night... She was enjoying his company and broke off from the other Little Mix girls to spend time with him. She looked really happy."

Perrie has reportedly been single since split from her former fiance Zayn in August, 2015, while he has since moved on with model Gigi Hadid.

Dougie and Ellie broke up in March (16) after a two-year relationship. The singer revealed that she hopes they will get back together in the future, while Dougie has also publicly gushed about his ex.

“We love each other very much. We are the best of friends," he told Britain's The Sun newspaper in April (16). “Everything is totally fine... She’s one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. But just right now, it’s hard. I’m single now.”
