Nicki Minaj berates reporter when asked about Drake and Meek Mill feud
Rapper Nicki Minaj lashed out at a reporter who asked her to comment on the ongoing feud between her boyfriend Meek Mill and her labelmate and pal Drake.
In July (15), Mill clashed with his girlfriend's Young Money Entertainment labelmate after suggesting the Started from the Bottom star does not write his own lyrics, and the attack sparked a war of words between the hip-hop rivals.
Drake was widely considered by fans to have emerged victorious in
the feud, after launching two diss tracks taking aim at Mill.
Meanwhile, the Anaconda star has remained quiet about the dispute,
but in an interview with the New York Times Magazine, she was asked
how she felt.
''They're men, grown-a** men,'' she said. ''It's between them. I
hate it. It doesn't make me feel good. You don't ever want to
choose sides between people you love. It's ridiculous. I just want
it to be over.''
Quizzed further about the feud and whether she "thrives off the
drama," Minaj blasted the reporter and ended the interview.
''That's disrespectful," she said. ''Why would a grown-a** woman
thrive off drama? What do the... men you just named have to do with
me thriving off drama? Why would you even say that? That's so
peculiar. (These) grown-a** men are having issues between
themselves, and you're asking me do I thrive off drama?''
"That's the typical thing that women do," she continued, "What did
you putting me down right there do for you? Women blame women for
things that have nothing to do with them. I really want to know why
- as a matter of fact, I don't. Can we move on, do you have
anything else to ask?
"To put down a woman for something that men do, as if they're
children and I'm responsible, has nothing to do with you asking
stupid questions, because you know that's not just a stupid
question. That's a premeditated thing you just did. (It was) rude
(and you are) a troublemaker."
She added, "Do not speak to me like I'm stupid or beneath you in
any way. I don't care to speak to you anymore.''
Feuds seemed to be a theme of the interview - Minaj also elaborated
on her war-of-words with Miley Cyrus that overshadowed the MTV
Video Music Awards this year (15).
The two performers fell out when Miley attacked Minaj publicly for
comments the hip-hop star made when her video for Anaconda was not
nominated for the Best Video gong at the MTV VMAs. The stars
exchanged words onstage as the Superbass hitmaker accepted her Best
Hip-Hop Video prize.
