Natalie Dormer: 'I'm used to pig comparisons'

British actress Natalie Dormer was bullied at school for having "pig nostrils".

The Game of Thrones star, who plays Margaery Tyrell on the hit fantasy drama, reveals she used to be teased as a child for her appearance, but Natalie has learned to take it all in her stride.

Fans have since noted an uncanny similarity between Natalie and The Muppets star Kermit the Frog's new girlfriend Denise - his rebound after splitting from Miss Piggy - and the familiar looks weren't lost on the actress, either.

Speaking at New York Comic Con on Thursday (08Oct15), she admitted, "When I saw Kermit's new girlfriend, I was like 'Maybe I'm a bit responsible for that.'"

Natalie has fully embraced her facial features and reveals she even asked Game of Thrones' writers to include a reference to her nose in a previous episode.

"There's a scene in season three where I'm walking on all the cliffs with Sansa, and I'm telling her how I was teased as a young girl for my nose," Natalie told the crowd. "I asked in a dinner with David (Benioff) and Dan (Weiss), 'Please, can you put in a line about a pig nose? I was bullied at school, I used to get told I had pig nostrils.' I said, 'For my own demons, it would be sticking two middle fingers up to the bullies of my childhood.'

"If you watch the DVDs, you'll see me oinking backstage (in outtakes)... I brought up the pig subject myself."

Despite the comparisons between herself and puppet character Denise, Natalie insists she is not at all offended by the likeness: "I've already made the comparison of my nostrils to a pig, so I can't complain (about Denise)!"
