Morgan Eastwood: 'Dad Clint is no racist'
Clint Eastwood's controversial comments about politics and racism have been "misconstrued", according to his teenage daughter Morgan.
The Dirty Harry legend hit headlines this week (ends05Aug16) after he spoke out in defense of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who has repeatedly caused offense by slamming Mexicans, Muslims, and women.
In a candid interview with Esquire magazine, Clint insisted people
are becoming too sensitive and should simply "get over" the
apparently-racist remarks and move on.
"We're really in a p**sy generation," the registered Republican
supporter declared. "Everybody's walking on eggshells. We see
people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When
I grew up, those things weren't called racist."
Suggesting he will be voting for Donald over his Democratic rival
Hillary Clinton at the polls this November (16), he stated, "He's
said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them (politicians). Both
sides. But everybody - the press and everybody's going, 'Oh, well,
that's racist', and they're making a big hoodoo out of it. Just
f**king get over it."
Clint's comments have sparked a backlash online, with many claiming
the 86-year-old actor/director - who grew up during a time when
segregation in America was commonplace - is out-of-touch with
today's society, but his actress daughter Morgan, 19, insists her
dad is no racist.
"My dad may say a lot of things that people don't like, and I'm not
defending his comments... BUT he is NOT a racist," she tweets. "He
was married to a woman for nearly 20 years (my mother) who is of
African American and Japanese descent
A lot of his words are misconstrued".
Morgan Eastwood is Clint's daughter with his ex-wife Dina.
