Miley Cyrus replaces sick Ellen DeGeneres as talk show host
Miley Cyrus stepped in to present The Ellen Degeneres Show at the last minute on Wednesday (28Sep16) when the regular host fell sick.
The talk show host tweeted her fans earlier on Wednesday to inform fans she was sick and unable to make her show's taping that day but it wasn't all bad news as she revealed the Wrecking Ball singer had "dropped everything" to fill in for her.
So Ellen's fans wouldn't miss her too much, Miley wore Ellen-style
clothes, including a denim jacket, white shirt, black trousers and
white sneakers and she told viewers during her opening monologue
she had been practicing being Ellen backstage.
"Hey, everybody. Thank you. I am Ellen DeGeneres. Right. OK,
obviously, I'm not Ellen. I am Miley Cyrus," she said. "How's it
going everybody? Listen now, I know all of you came to see Ellen,
so I'm gonna do my best to make you very happy.
"I'm dressed like her, I smell like her, just before I came out
here, I actually kissed a girl, so thank you. Thank you for making
me feel very welcome. Thank you guys for making me feel so welcome.
Thank you for staying."
Miley has previously hosted the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, but
she admitted fronting the chat show was a new and nerve-wracking
experience for her.
"I'll admit I'm a little bit nervous because I've never hosted a
show with my clothes on before, so this is so weird," she joked.
"Don't worry you guys, Ellen will be fine, but she just isn't
feeling well, so she's asked me to fill in and of course, I said
yes for my girl Ellen."
Miley also cracked a joke about her previous wild behavior, saying
she gave Ellen "Molly", aka the drug MDMA, to make her feel better
and she busted out some hilarious dance moves before her
monologue.
During the show, which airs in the U.S. on Thursday (29Sep16),
Miley interviews actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Idina
Menzel.
