Miley Cyrus planning fan mail scheme to help jailed homeless pal
Miley Cyrus is planning to set up a fan mail scheme and a blog to help her homeless friend Jesse Helt through his stint in prison.
The Wrecking Ball star took the 22 year old as her date to the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles in August (14) to raise awareness about the plight of displaced youth.
Helt turned himself in to police just days after his appearance at
the glitzy ceremony and was sentenced to six months behind bars for
a probation violation.
Cyrus, who offered to pay his legal fees, has now confirmed she is
still in touch with Helt and is planning a scheme to help him
through his time in jail.
She tells Australia's breakfast TV show Sunrise, "We are going to
start something where all my fans can send in fan mail to Jesse. We
are going to start that really soon to encourage him and keep him
inspired. I also want to start up a Q&A and kind of a blog for
him to describe his journey. Right now he's doing really well...
He's doing great and I want all my fans to send in letters... That
will be very helpful."
Cyrus also vows to continue supporting Helt after his release,
adding, "Without him doing that (going to prison) he would never
have a chance to start a new chapter. He would always spend his
life running, which now he doesn't have to do that (sic). When he
gets out, he can come out and do whatever he wants to do and I will
make sure he does whatever his biggest dream is (sic)."
