Michael Fassbender shuts down questions about Alicia Vikander romance
Michael Fassbender refused to answer questions regarding his romance with Alicia Vikander in a new interview.
The couple has been dating for two years, but very rarely talk about its relationship, which reportedly began while filming new movie, The Light Between Oceans.
And when the actors were quizzed about their love life in a joint
interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fassbender was quick to shut
down the questioning.
"I'm not going to talk about my private life with a total stranger,
unless I feel like I need to. Why would I? I don't," he
retorted.
Vikander, however, sweetly deflected the question with a more
diplomatic response than her 39-year-old Irishman beau.
"I think we've made a clear statement that we keep certain things
just between us," she said. "It was very easy to unite, but that's
quite personal."
The Light Between Oceans, adapted from the M.L. Stedman novel of
the same name, follows the story of a lighthouse keeper and his
wife who decide to raise a baby they rescue from an adrift
rowboat.
The stars portray husband and wife onscreen, but Michael was keen
to dispel reports they had fallen in love while filming the Derek
Cianfrance movie back in 2014.
"It wasn't the first time in a movie either of us had played
somebody who is falling in love. There is an element of separation
there. If I'm playing a murderer, I don't go out and start
murdering people," he said sarcastically.
The Light Between Oceans is released on 2 September (16).
