Michael Cera almost missed out on breakthrough role
Actor Michael Cera almost missed out on his breakthrough role in Arrested Development over problems with his visa.
The Canadian actor landed a part in the hit sitcom when he was just 11 years old, but he came dangerously close to missing his big break when the pilot was being filmed.
Cera and his mother were told his paperwork was not in order and he
would not be able to work in the U.S. until it was fixed, but after
a quick trip over the border to Mexico, he was allowed back in with
the correct documentation.
The Superbad star tells The Sunday Times Magazine, "There were visa
issues. My mother had to drive me across the Mexican border to
Tijuana so I could re-enter the States with the right papers. It
was just at the time they were filming the pilot, and really
nerve-wracking."
