Marvel's The Defenders won't be a 'small screen version' of The Avengers
The Defenders producer Marco Ramirez has promised the TV show won't be a small screen version of The Avengers.
The cast of Marvel's new project took to the stage at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday evening (21Jul17) to showcase the first episode of the highly anticipated series.
Castmembers Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) were joined at the panel discussion by Ramirez, who promised the program will be unique in its own right, and won't just be a TV version of the blockbuster The Avengers movie franchise.
"This is not the kind of the show where they're ever going to have a headquarters," Ramirez said of the summer series, which unites four superheroes in one show and airs on Netflix this August.
"No one is going to get fitted for suits. No one gets T-shirts. Jessica's going to look at Danny and say your fists don't make any sense."
One factor that sets the series apart from The Avengers movies is the fact that the action scenes are going to be very down to earth.
"These people are fighting in the back alleys and the sh**ty bars," he explained.
Fans were delighted by the sneak peek at the first episode, which introduces its four main protagonists in the opening minutes.
Sigourney Weaver, who will play the villainous character Alexandra, also made quite an impact in her scenes in the premiere episode.
