Lindsay Lohan tried to keep drinking secret on TV show

Lindsay Lohan struggled desperately to keep her recent booze relapse a secret while she was filming her reality TV show.

The Mean Girls star admitted on camera that she had slipped up and sacrificed her new-found sobriety by drinking wine following a spat with a boyfriend while she was filming her reality TV show Lindsay for Oprah Winfrey's OWN network.

However, Lohan has now admitted she tried her best to keep the slip-up a secret because was "scared" of the reaction to her confession as it came just weeks after her release from rehab.

She tells British TV host Alan Carr, "There was a point on the show when I was in a relationship with someone and I, like, had a drink and I freaked out and didn't want to say anything on the show as I didn't know how that would come across and I was just scared. And that's when it kind of hit home that I was doing a docu-series, and I was like you know what, I'm honest and I'm open and I've never really hid anything, unfortunately there are some things I would've like to have kept hidden (that) have been out there."

When the presenter asked Lohan how many days it had been since she had her last drink, she replied, "I don't know. A long amount of time."

The interview airs in the U.K. on Friday (25Apr14).
