Lily James: 'Downton Abbey changed my style'
Downton Abbey helped actress Lily James revamp her style.
The British star played Lady Rose Aldridge in the hit show, and while the decadent costumes don't exactly work in today's society, Lily was able to pick up a few tips on how to accessorise properly.
"My style really changed because I understood accessorising, She
told WWD.com. "Every morning I'd go into my trailer and there'd be
different necklaces and earrings and gloves and handbags, and
depending on my outfit, I'd pick what I would wear with it."
With a renewed sense of style, and an ever-increasing profile, Lily
has become more interested in designers, particularly those from
Europe.
"I go for the British designers," she said. "I love Burberry, I
love Dior, Chanel..."
But when she isn't busy promoting one of her projects or stepping
onto a red carpet, Lily, who is dating former Doctor Who Matt
Smith, likes to keep things comfortable and laidback, and once
splashed out on four pairs of dungarees in different colors.
"I keep quite a low profile and I wear jeans and jumpers and
Converse (shoes)," she laughed. "I’m the girl that wears her
boyfriend’s jumpers most of the time.”
However, when it's time to get all glam, Lily told UK Glamour her
wardrobe wishlist includes "strappy Jimmy Choos", adding, "You can
get them in so many colors, and they go with everything."
