Leonardo DiCaprio to host Hillary Clinton fundraiser

Written by . Published: August 02 2016

Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly the latest Hollywood star to host a fundraising event for U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The fundraiser, to be held on 23 August (16), will take place during Hillary's first visit to Los Angeles since receiving the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania last month (Jul16).

According to editors at America's Variety magazine, tickets for the event are to be priced at $33,400 per-person, with $2,700 going towards Hillary's fight against Republican nominee Donald Trump in November's (16) election, and the remainder going towards the Democratic Party's wider campaigns.

The publication report full details of the event will be announced on Tuesday (02Aug16), with sources saying it will take place at Leonardo's Los Angeles home.

The political event will be Leonardo's second major fundraising push in a month as in July (16) he hosted his environmental foundation's annual charity gala in Saint Tropez, France, raising $45 million for good causes with a charity auction.

A number of major Hollywood figures have hosted fundraising bashes for Hillary, who is the first ever female major party nominee for U.S. President.

In April (16) George Clooney hosted a fundraiser for Hillary's campaign to win the Democratic Party nomination, while Leonardo himself attended an event held by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in New York in June (16).

Leonardo's fundraiser will come a day after another event aimed at bolstering Hillary and the Democrats' election war chest featuring a who's who of Hollywood's most powerful figures.

The event, hosted by media mogul Haim Saban and his wife Cheryl, will reportedly be attended by Disney boss Bob Iger, DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzernberg and film producer Thomas Tull.

Last month's (16) Democratic National Convention, which saw Hillary accept her party's presidential nomination, saw appearances from a number of stars including Katy Perry, Eva Longoria, Chloe Grace Moretz and Sigourney Weaver.
