Lady Gaga books jazz concert in Las Vegas
Lady Gaga is heading to Las Vegas to perform a one-off jazz concert later this month (Dec16).
The Born This Way singer will hit the stage at the Wynn Encore Theater at the Wynn Hotel & Casino on 30 December (16) to perform classic jazz songs and reworked versions of her singles.
She will be joined by her musician pal Brian Newman, who worked on
Cheek to Cheek, her Grammy-winning jazz standards album with
crooner Tony Bennett.
Tickets for the black tie event, titled An Intimate Evening with
Lady Gaga, won't be cheap - entrance will cost fans between $1,000
and $1,500 each.
"Celebrated for infectious dance tracks and powerful ballads,
six-time Grammy Award winner Lady Gaga is set to showcase her love
of jazz in an intimate, one-night-only concert in the Encore
Theater on Friday, December 30," reads a description of the show.
"Performing with New York City jazzman, Brian Newman, and his
quintet, Gaga will glide through an evening of jazz standards and
classics, including renditions of some of the songs that have made
her one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Begin your New
Year's weekend on a soulful musical journey expertly guided by the
Lady herself."
Newman is no stranger to Gaga's fans - the pop superstar is known
for staging impromptu performances with the jazz musician at the
Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar in New York City, where he and his
band have a residency.
She last dropped by the venue in July (16), when they teamed up
with fellow artist Tommy London, frontman of The Dirty Pearls, and
belted out six songs together during her 30-minute set, which
included renditions of jazz standards I Can't Give You Anything But
Love, Bang Bang, and Edith Piaf's signature song, La Vie en
rose.
