Kanye West slams stars over empty campaigning
Rapper Kanye West has risked alienating his fellow stars by alleging "90 per cent" of famous faces are not interested in the good causes they support and are only speaking out to boost their finances.
The controversial hip-hop star is adamant most actors and musicians are "controlled" by their desire to make money and are not interested in using their fame to improve life for others.
He also admits going public with the accusation could cause him to
be shunned by his celebrity peers but insists he does not care if
his reputation is harmed.
West, who is married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, tells Q
magazine, "I just think there's a lot of celebrities that are
completely controlled by their finances. You could literally tap
them on the wrist and say they lost five dollars and they'll fall
to the floor and beg for at least four of the dollars back. So when
people expect a celebrity to do or say anything you're talking to
the wrong group of people. They won't use their voice for the
people. They'll only use their voice for money.
"Print it as loud, as f**king loud, as you want to. Print it. And I
don't care what parties I don't get invited to afterward. Ninety
per cent of celebrities only use their voice for the purpose of
making money for themselves."
