Kanye West: 'I would have voted for Trump'
Kanye West would have voted for Donald Trump if he’d got to a polling station.
The Stronger rapper is no stranger to surprising his fans at gigs, and often likes to stop mid-performance to rant about things on his mind.
During his Saint Pablo Tour stop in San Jose, California on
Thursday (17Nov16) he launched into a 20 minute political speech,
revealing his views on President-elect Donald Trump.
“I said something that was kind of politically correct. I told
y’all I didn’t vote, right?” he told the crowd. “What I didn’t tell
you… if I were to have voted I would have voted on Trump.”
Fans at the SAP Center weren’t impressed with his Trump sentiments,
and quickly booed the hip hop star. They also took to Twitter to
share their anger.
Kanye’s views widely differ from those of his fellow musicians,
with Jay Z, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, among others, all
staunch supporters of Trump's rival Hillary Clinton.
“Not only did I not vote, but there were a lot of things I actually
liked about Trump’s campaign,” he shared. “His approach was
(expletive) genius – because it worked.”
Kanye once again outlined his plans to run for the White House job
in 2020. After confirming his political plans, claiming he’ll be “a
different type of president,” he told the audience, “I’m a human
being too, I have feelings, I liked the debates, I’m a guy and a
rapper, I’m a non-political rebel, the debates were
entertaining.”
The 39-year-old also blasted the Internet forums for confusing
people in the run up to the election earlier this month
(Nov16).
“Echoing is what made people think Hillary was going to win, you
thought because what the Internet was telling you, that she was
gonna win,” said Kanye.
