Kanye West: 'Having a family made me rethink the way I rap'
Kanye West is a changed man after becoming a husband and father, confessing his new family has completely made him "rethink" the way he raps.
Over the past two years, the notoriously outspoken Stronger star wed reality TV regular Kim Kardashian and welcomed their first child together, daughter North, and now with a son on the way, West is speaking out about how his growing family has deeply affected his career as an artist.
"Having a family, period, has made me completely rethink the way I
rap," he tells SHOWstudio's In Camera webseries. "I just love my
family... Three years ago, after this interview, I would've been on
the train back to Paris to see the last of the (fashion) shows to
get that inspiration. Now, I'm on the first flight home to see my
greatest inspiration, that's my daughter."
And as one of the highest-profile celebrity couples in the world,
West admits he does have concerns about bringing up North and their
son in the spotlight, but in the grand scheme of things, there are
bigger problems to be worried about.
"Do I worry about being in the public eye and raising kids? Yeah,
any situation you're in you're going to worry about raising kids
but it's Champagne problems," he admitted. "There's people who
can't feed their kids. That's something more to worry about (sic).
So I'm not going to sit here and complain about the so-called
problems I have. These aren't real issues. There's people at war...
That celeb s**t, it's not real s**t.
"You know what, I'm alive. I'm breathing... I have no problems," he
continues. "I'm so, so, so, so happy. And I'm happy for the normal
reasons to be happy. Because I married the woman of my dreams and I
have a beautiful daughter and so many beautiful people around me...
I have a son on the way."
West concludes, "I have a lot of life ahead of me, and I have the
opportunity to be completely rogue and the ability to support
myself being who I am."
