Jude Law snubs medication thanks to health-conscious mother

Jude Law avoids taking painkillers and medicine when he is ill because they were banned in his household as a child.

The British actor's strict mother didn't give her children pills when they felt unwell unless the medication was really necessary, and the practise has extended into his adult life.

He says, "I grew up in a family where I didn't even get headache tablets. My mother wasn't a health freak but she had strong principles.

"In the seventies, that was just becoming popular - we shouldn't eat this and that, and not watch TV that much. And a dislike of painkillers and pills was part of it."
