John Legend cried taking baby for injections
R&B star John Legend broke down in tears when his baby daughter gripped his finger for the first time following her birth.
The All of Me singer became a first-time dad in April (16), when he welcomed Luna Simone with his model wife Chrissy Teigen.
The new mum reveals her husband is usually "very put together" when
it comes to his emotions, but he let his guard down and cracked as
he bonded with his little girl in hospital, while she waited to get
some injections.
"I remember when she was first born, I was laying in the bed and
she had her very first shots, so he had to wheel her down (to a
different ward)," Chrissy tells People.com. She grabbed onto his
finger, and that's when he said he started to cry. That was so cute
for me to hear. That's when they really connected."
Meanwhile, Chrissy is handling motherhood as best she can, but
confesses she has turned to the Internet for advice about nursing
after worrying she wasn't breastfeeding properly
"Sometimes I'm Googling how to do it better," she laughs. "I'm
like, 'Is it working? Is it taking? I don't think I'm feeling
enough pain!' You just get so confused about how it's supposed to
feel, and as hard as anyone said it was, I feel like it somehow
managed to be harder."
Despite her initial concerns, Chrissy has found the mother-daughter
feeding times "very fulfilling", adding, "You know you're doing
something good."
She even allowed herself to be filmed while nursing little Luna for
Fergie's new music video, M.I.L.F.$ - an intimate moment she
recently branded "beautiful".
And while Chrissy is enjoying spending as much time as possible
with her daughter, she and John are committed to spending two or
three nights a week alone, so they can reconnect as a couple.
But the exhausted mum confesses she struggles to stay awake for the
date nights, which they usually spend at a Los Angeles movie
theatre.
"I'm not kidding, I go there not to watch a movie, I go there to
sleep," she quips. "I order food, lay on my side and shovel it into
my mouth. I get the blanket and lay there and he watches the movie
and I am passed out."
