Jennifer Lawrence's mom stole her Oscars voting ballot
Actress Jennifer Lawrence feared she had missed her chance to vote for the 2013 Academy Awards after her mom snatched the ballot and wrote down her own film favourites.
The Hunger Games star was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last year (11), and was looking forward to weighing in on the nominations.
But Lawrence admits she was terrified she would be booted from the
prestigious organization after her mom Karen intercepted the ballot
and mailed it in with her top picks.
Lawrence tells Ellen DeGeneres, "I get a call from my mother while
I was in England and she goes, 'I did something hilarious... I
voted.' And I was like, 'You voted for what?' 'The Oscars!' And I
was like, 'You voted for the Oscars, what do you mean?' And she
goes, 'The ballot came here and I voted!'
"She thought I'd (think) that's hilarious. I'm going to get kicked
out of the Academy! Fortunately, she did it wrong and mailed it
back to herself, so I got to do it again."
And when asked if she agreed with her mom's selections, Lawrence
insisted, "No!"
