Jennifer Lawrence: 'I'm always waiting to get blindsided again'

Jennifer Lawrence is "always waiting to get blindsided again" following the scandals that have blighted her career.

The 26-year-old Silver Linings Playbook actress first found herself in the news in 2014, when nude pictures of her and several other actresses were released online after their accounts were targeted by a hacker. Then, earlier this year (17), Jennifer hit headlines again when a video of her pole dancing at a birthday party in Vienna, Austria, dropped online.

And in an interview with Vogue magazine, Jennifer opened up about the lasting effect these incidents have had on her.

"It’s scary when you feel the whole world judges you,” she explained. “I think people saw (the hacking) for what it was, which was a sex crime, but that feeling, I haven’t been able to get rid of it. Having your privacy violated constantly isn’t a problem if you’re perfect. But if you’re human, it’s terrifying. When my publicist calls me, I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, what is it?’ Even when it’s nothing. I’m always waiting to get blindsided again.”

When it comes to the pole dancing video, Jennifer previously insisted in a post on Facebook she wasn't going to apologize because she "had a blast that night". And talking to Vogue, the Oscar-winning Passengers star reiterated that she had done nothing wrong.

"My biggest fear from that whole thing was that people were going to think that I was trying to be sexy,” she mused. “Also, it looked like I had taken my shirt off. I was in a crop top. I did not take off my shirt. I’m on the phone with my lawyers, and everybody’s like, ‘Is there anything we need to know before it comes out?’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s all there.’”

Both incidents have contributed to making Jennifer somewhat more wary when it comes to meeting her fans. So when she's approached by supporters, she prefers to just meet them and shake hands rather than taking a picture with them.

“I’m happy to meet people, give autographs, shake hands, and say ‘Thank you,’ ” she said. “I wouldn’t have a job if people weren’t going to see my movies. It’s just... if I’m on an airplane and I have no make-up on, I don’t want to take a selfie that’s going to end up on E!"
