Jaden Smith: 'I was a vampire, for real'
Jaden Smith has given a bizarre new interview in which he claims he used to be a vampire.
The 18-year-old actor, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, spoke to French magazine Numero about his sense of style, admitting he used to favour the "Gothic" look.
"During a period of my life, I was Gothic. I was only wearing black
and I was hiding from the sun because I was a vampire," he told the
publication. "I was a vampire, for real. I could not expose myself
to the sun and I was only wearing black trench coats."
However, Jaden insists that he's now past that stage in his life
and prefers a more upbeat look these days.
"Now I'm not a vampire, I'm out of this phase. I open myself up to
wear brighter things, to go out in daylight," he said. "I share
much more mixed energy."
Jaden certainly stands out from the crowd in his ensemble choices,
which have seen him hit headlines thanks to his androgynous style
of dressing, which was captured in an ad for Louis Vuitton when he
was photographed wearing a skirt.
As well as making a name for himself as a fashion icon, Jaden is an
actor, with roles in films such as The Karate Kid and After Earth
in which he starred alongside his father, but he told the magazine
he doesn't mind how he "leaves a mark" on the world - as long as he
does.
Asked what he wants people to say about him after his death, Jaden
replied: "The world was like that when he arrived, and like that
when he's gone. He is not here, but thank you."
The teenager also revealed he is not planning to limit himself to
just one work field, and is hoping to pursue multiple creative
careers in "music, film, photography and other fields".
"There are odysseys in which I am engaged now, those that I can put
in place if I want, those I could undertake in the future," he
explained. "Some immerse themselves in painting, studying intensely
or demonstrate an extreme concentration. The adaptability of the
human seems endless, until the day they die."
