Jack Osbourne speaks out about Ozzy's relapse
Jack Osbourne is playing down the drama surrounding his father Ozzy's recent relapse, insisting he was not surprised when the heavy rocker started boozing and using drugs again.
As a recovering addict himself, the reality TV star insists no one is guaranteed full sobriety after kicking their bad habits - and his dad is just like millions of troubled souls who slip back.
In a taped appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, hosted by TV medic Mehmet
Oz, Jack Osbourne explains, "He's sober now but he did have a
relapse. At the end of the day, we're alcoholics. That's what we
do. He fell off the wagon, but he does what we're taught to do and
he got right back on. It's a tough battle."
And talking about his own pill popping addiction, Osbourne admits
he was too young to be an addict: "I got sober when I was 17 years
old, so it's one of those things where most people have never had a
drink at 17 years old let alone they'd never have to come to terms
with having to get sober at 17."
Reports suggest Jack Osbourne's mother Sharon has temporarily moved
out of the home she shares with Ozzy after revealing she was
unaware her husband was using drugs behind her back, insisting
she's "devastated" by his relapse.
Speaking out about the ordeal while co-hosting her show The Talk
last month (Apr13), she said, "My husband has been using alcohol
and prescription drugs for the last year-and-a-half... Everybody
knows he's been struggling with this his entire life. I never knew
that he was using prescription drugs; I knew he was drinking,
occasionally, but I didn't realize to the extent."
She added, "We're not getting divorced, however, am I happy? No. Am
I upset? Yes, I am. I'm devastated right now."
Jack Osbourne's candid chat with Dr. Oz will air on Monday
(20May13).
