Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev visiting sick fan

Vampire Diaries co-stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are set to make an ailing fan's dreams come true by arranging to visit the youngster in Toronto, Canada.

The actors, who have been dating since 2011, reached out to Kayla via an online video message after hearing that she was in need of a lung transplant.

In the clip, Somerhalder hails Kayla as "such a fighter", prompting Dobrev to refer to her TV character Elena Gilbert and say, "You really are. I think Elena would be jealous. Because as much fighting as we do on the show, Elena will never be as strong as you, or as courageous."

They then told her to "clear your schedule" and revealed that they were heading to Toronto to spend Saturday (30Mar13) with the sick child.
