Harry Connick, Jr. releases tribute song for Newtown victim

Singer/actor Harry Connick, Jr. has written a touching new song to honor the memory of jazz musician Jimmy Greene's daughter, who was tragically killed in the Newtown, Connecticut school massacre last year (Dec12).

The saxophonist's six-year-old, Ana Grace, was among the 20 kids who lost their lives when gunman Adam Lanza opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School on 14 December (12), and Connick, Jr. was so moved by the tragedy, he decided to express his sympathy for Greene by penning Love Wins.

He released the track online this week (begs10Jun13), six months after Lanza's sick act, and has pledged to donate all proceeds from downloads of the tune to the Ana Grace Fund, a charity established to provide financial support for her grieving family.

The star explains, "A dear friend of mine, his name is Jimmy Greene, lost his daughter in the Newtown shooting, six year old Ana Grace. Very difficult to talk about.

"To make a long story short, I wanted to write a song in tribute to her... All of the money goes to Jimmy and his family. It's very difficult for them, at this point, to even work at all. What they choose to use the money for - therapy, food, whatever - he's an incredibly wonderful man, as is his wife and son, Isaiah, so I'm really excited to pay tribute to that beautiful little girl."
