Gina Rodriguez: 'I was stunned to discover links to porn'

Actress Gina Rodriguez was stunned to discover she wasn't the only actress with that name when an ex-boyfriend encouraged his strict parents to check out his new love online.

The star, who has become an overnight sensation thanks to her new TV comedy Jane The Virgin, had just launched a new film at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah and her proud boyfriend told his folks to "Google her" and her new movie.

She says, "I haven't Googled my name for a while because of it. A few years ago when I did a movie at Sundance and there was some heat coming my way the Googling began and it came up about a former porn star... It was pretty crazy.

"I was actually dating a really sweet guy from Ohio... and his parents were Chinese, traditional Chinese parents... and he goes, 'Mom, she's an actress and I really like her and she's super sweet and you should Google her...', and then he got a call like, 'Did we not teach you right?'

"He's still a very good friend of mine... He thought it was really funny. He was so upset at his parent for not, like, trusting that he would have made the 'right' decision... so he let them linger for a little while. Needless to say I didn't meet them."
