Fergie's dad recovering from cancer
FERGIE's father is recovering from his second battle with cancer.
The Black Eyed Peas star's retired school teacher dad, Jon Patrick, was diagnosed with neurological cancer over a decade ago, but he beat the disease after undergoing several rounds of radiation therapy.
Scarred by the experience, he refused to go to the doctor for
regular check-ups, and the cancer returned earlier this year
(12).
Jon Patrick almost gave up when he was told he had just six months
to live, however the best medics were hired - and now he is in
remission.
Fergie tells TV host Oprah Winfrey, "He had cancer and he did
radiation the first time, didn't like it. It was a bad experience
for him. The cancer went away. Then he didn't go to the doctor for
10 years and the cancer came back even stronger.
"It was in his lungs, his spine. And right away I said, '... I
wanna have kids and you haven't even seen them yet dad.'"
Thankfully Jon Patrick is on the mend, and Fergie added, "If he
would have gone, I don't know what I would have done."
