Felicity Jones still devastated about Anton Yelchin's death
Actress Felicity Jones is still struggling with the sudden death of her Like Crazy co-star Anton Yelchin, insisting the young actor was a "unique soul".
The Theory of Everything star, who played Yelchin's British lover in the 2011 movie, is still devastated by his freak car accident death in June (16), admitting she can't understand how the Star Trek actor was killed.
The actor lost his life when he was pinned between a brick pillar
and his vehicle after it rolled backwards down the steep driveway
of his home in the San Fernando Valley, California.
Opening up about her loss in the new issue of The Hollywood
Reporter, Felicity says, "It’s been devastating. It doesn’t feel
like there’s any justice or there’s no way of understanding it,
really. It’s just been a very difficult time for his family.
They’re very dignified, beautiful people.
"He was just like no one else. He really was a unique soul."
Yelchin's parents, Victor and Irina Yelchin, are currently suing
executives at Fiat Chrysler, alleging the gear selector in their
27-year-old son's Jeep Grand Cherokee was defective.
Bosses at the car company have filed a response to the lawsuit,
asking the judge to remove them from the case because they had
nothing to do with the accident.
They list a host of reasons they should not be held responsible for
Yelchin's death, including the fact that the actor's "misuse,
misapplication, or damage" of his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee led to
the accident that killed him.
Following the accident, Fiat Chrysler chiefs launched an
investigation into Yelchin's incident.
After the Yelchins filed their lawsuit against the company, their
attorney Gary A. Dordick, revealed a recall letter for the vehicle
was sent to the actor a month before his death and a week after he
was killed.
"The safety recall was way too little and way too late," Dordick
said. "We hope this lawsuit will teach them a lesson."
