Ed Sheeran splashes out $3,000 on toy shopping spree
Ed Sheeran spent $3,000 on a shopping spree by stocking up on toys he was banned from having as a child.
The Thinking Out Loud star was not allowed to have scooters, Nerf guns or roller skates when he was younger, so he went wild and bought them all during a recent outing to children's store Toys R Us.
Ed is yet to play with most of his new toys, but he plans to keep
them all stored away for his future children.
He tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "As any kid that has good
parents will know, when you grow up you're not allowed things... I
went into Toys R Us and just spent two grand on everything I wanted
when I was younger.
"I was like, 'I was never allowed that pirate ship so I'm having
that, wasn't allowed a Nerf gun so I'm having that, I wasn't
allowed a scooter so I'm having that'... I bought roller skates, a
yo-yo, those wheelie shoes... I haven't used half of them but it
was just that moment that I'm allowed to now. I bought
everything."
He then spent even more money when he returned home by shopping
online for dolls he had as a child.
"All the stuff I bought in the shop is in my house... But then I
went on eBay and spent a day looking for the same dolls I had when
I was younger and bought all of them as well.
"So I have this cupboard in my house with everything from my
childhood... I know my kids are going to play with them and have
fun."
The singer, who is currently taking a career break, recently
splashed out on a $1.2 million London apartment for his parents,
John and Imogen, over the road from his home so they have somewhere
to stay when they visit him.
"I got them a flat and a car in London so they can stay there. It's
opposite me (my house) as well," he previously told Britain's The
Sun newspaper. "My thing is, I bought a house about a mile away
from them where we live in a countryside, and I bought a flat and a
house pretty much opposite each other in London... So when I have
kids, when they start getting a little bit irritating, I've got the
grandparents there."
