Drew Barrymore officially files for divorce from Will Kopelman
Drew Barrymore is reportedly moving ahead with her plans to divorce husband Will Kopelman.
The actress and producer filed official divorce papers at the Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday (15Jul16), according to the New York Daily News.
The pair, who are parents to daughters Olive, three, and Frankie,
two, appear to be proceeding amicably, as the divorce is reportedly
marked as “uncontested” in court documents. Charlie’s Angels star
Drew, 41, and art consultant Will, 39, started dating in 2011, and
married in 2012.
In early April (16), they announced their separation in a joint
statement, which insisted that despite calling it quits on, their
family would remain intact and they were prioritizing the needs of
their girls.
"Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel
this takes away from us being a family," they said. "Divorce might
make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find
grace in the idea that life goes on."
In the months that followed, the Blended star has done her part in
moving upward and onward, her social media presence hallmarked by
time spent with her children and loved ones.
But when she appeared on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix talk show in May
(16), Drew offered a remarkably candid glimpse into the struggles
she's recently faced.
"When you break up with somebody, you're like, 'Yeah, that didn't
work,' (but) when you get divorced you're like, 'I'm the biggest
failure. This is the biggest failure,'" she reflected.
"It's so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even
privately."
This was Drew's third marriage. She was married to bar owner Jeremy
Thomas for just weeks in 1994, and comedian Tom Green filed for
divorce months after they got hitched in July, 2001. The split was
finalized in October, 2002.
