Drake Bell under fire for Bruce Jenner tweet

Singer/actor Drake Bell has come under fire for publicly refusing to call retired Olympian Bruce Jenner by his new female name, Caitlyn Jenner.

Kim Kardashian's stepdad confirmed long-running rumors suggesting he is transitioning from male to female in April (15), and on Monday (01Jun15), he finally unveiled his female persona by gracing the cover of top magazine Vanity Fair, under the name Caitlyn.

Following the big reveal, a slew of celebrities showed their support and adoration for Jenner online, but former Nickelodeon star Bell stirred controversy as he took to Twitter.com and posted, "Sorry....still calling you Bruce."

After a backlash from some of his followers, Bell deleted the tweet, and wrote, "That's bravery!"

He continued to explain himself by writing, "Good thing social media has no effect on real life... I'm not dissing (blasting) him! I just don't want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time! Chill out!"
