Diplo is Most Shazamed Artist of 2015
Dance producer Diplo dominated music app Shazam in 2015 with more than 40 million hits worldwide.
Fans pulled out the app to identify more of the DJ's songs than those of any other artist over the last 12 months, partly in thanks to his work with his group Major Lazer and his Jack U duo with Skrillex.
Major Lazer's catchy hit Lean On - which was recently named
Spotify's biggest song of the year - racked up 16.6 million of the
band's 27 million hits alone, while Jack U's Where Are U Now
collaboration with Justin Bieber was checked out on Shazam 6.2
million times, and Diplo's solo work earned a total of 4.6 million
hits, including one million alone for his song Be Right There with
Sleepy Tom, reports Billboard.com.
It's been a big year for Diplo - he also scored three Grammy Award
nominations last week (begs07Dec15) for Producer of the Year,
Non-Classical, Best Dance Recording for We Are U Now, and Best
Dance/Electronic Album for Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack U.
