David Blaine cheers up storm victims with card tricks
Magician David Blaine did his bit to ease the misery of superstorm Sandy by performing card tricks for hungry residents queuing for food in New York.
The conjurer was riding his motorbike in Lower Manhattan earlier this week (beg29Oct12) when he noticed a line of people snaking around the block.
When he pulled over and was told residents were waiting for food
from the Old Homestead Steakhouse, where staff were serving on the
street during the storm-induced blackout, Blaine asked for a deck
of cards and spent 90 minutes entertaining 800 queuing diners.
An onlooker tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "David was
rumbling by on his motorcycle, and he stopped to see why there was
a line on 14th Street."
Thousands of New Yorkers were left without power when the storm
battered the East Coast on Monday (29Oct12).
