David Beckham braves blizzard chaos for wife's fashion show

David Beckham was caught up in a travel nightmare this weekend (09-10Feb13) as he attempted to fly from London to blizzard-hit New York to attend his wife's fashion show.

The sports star had planned to fly from London to the Big Apple on Friday (08Feb13) with the couple's three sons so they could all support former Spice Girls star Victoria as she launches her latest collections at New York Fashion Week.

However, the family's flight was cancelled due to the heavy snow which has hit the East Coast.

Beckham was determined to get to New York to join his wife and daughter, Harper, so he put himself on a stand-by list in a bid to land a seat on another flight.

He showed up at London's Heathrow Airport at 6am local time on Saturday morning (09Feb13) to wait for a place, and his patience was eventually rewarded, but he had to leave his sons at home with relatives, according to British newspaper The People.

A source tells the publication, "Victoria really wanted David, the boys and her parents at the show... David didn't want to disappoint Victoria so he decided he would do whatever he could to get there in time."
