Daisy Ridley not recognised on Star Wars set
Daisy Ridley can go on the Star Wars set unrecognised if she dresses in her regular clothes.
The British newcomer, who shot to fame playing Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, began filming the follow-up in February (16) and she enjoys the project so much that she visits the set even when she isn't due to film any scenes, and most of the team don't even realise it is her without her Rey costume.
“I go to the set even when I’m not wanted, just so people remember
me," she tells London's Evening Standard. "When I walk onto the set
in my civvies (civilian clothes) they don’t recognise me, but when
I’m in costume they’re like, ‘There’s Rey,’ and it’s such a nice
feeling.”
Daisy still feels like "little old me" despite her new found
stardom, and she admits she never predicted how popular the new
movie would be and finds it overwhelming if she thinks about it too
much.
"It’s hard to fathom, so I take it in small doses," she adds. "I
think, when everything’s done, in 10 or 20 years, I’ll be able to
look at it and take everything in."
The 23-year-old hopes she won't be typecast as an action or sci-fi
star and she believes her social media accounts can help show she
is different to Rey. She wants variety in career, including a stint
on the stage once she conquers her nerves.
"I know in my mind what I want to achieve. This is one incredible
thing and is going to lead to more things - hopefully more genres,"
Daisy shares. "I’d love to do theatre, but I get really bad stage
fright. So I’m going to have to feel like I have real skills in
film before I go to another format.”
Daisy has recently confirmed she is in talks to take over from
Angelina Jolie in a new series of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
movies.
