Christina Aguilera undertakes charity work as she prepares to give birth
Pregnant singer Christina Aguilera has dedicated her final few days before giving birth to helping other mothers around the world.
The Fighter hitmaker is preparing to welcome a baby girl with her fiance Matt Rutler, and she has been spending the last days of pregnancy undertaking charity work.
Aguilera is a long-time supporter of the United Nations World Food
Programme (WFP) and Yum! Brands' World Hunger Relief effort, and
she is spearheading a new drive called #PasstheRedCup to help
mothers around the world who are struggling to feed their
children.
She has posed for pictures holding a red cup on her pregnant belly
and penned a blog about her experiences in Rwanda last year (13)
for Huffingtonpost.com.
Aguilera writes, "So much can change in life in just one year. This
summer, I've been preparing for the arrival of my new baby girl and
working on recording new music for my next album. It's hard to
believe that about the same time last year I was in the fields of
Rwanda with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Yum!
Brands' World Hunger Relief effort. The beautiful faces of the
young mothers and children I met in Rwanda are with me every day
and fuel my passion to raise awareness about the critical global
hunger issue.
"It's heartbreaking to me that in our social media driven,
increasingly-connected world, nearly 850 million people go to bed
hungry each night. And this includes far too many children. It's a
subject so close to my heart and has been for a long time, being a
mom."
Aguilera is also mother to a six-year-old son named Max, from her
first marriage to Jordan Bratman.
